Investor 1 Resident Visa

New Zealand invites experienced business people who have a minimum of NZD $10 million to invest in New Zealand over a 3 -year period, you can apply for New Zealand residence. Before you can apply,  send an Expression of Interest telling NZ about your business experience and investment. If your Expression of Interest is successful NZ will invite you and your partner and dependent children to apply for New Zealand residence.

Key Requirement:

Age

• ≤ 65 years old

English Language 

• You must be able to speak English.

• If you are invited to apply for residence, your must qualify for a minimum of 1 point for English language ability.

• If you have an English-Speaking background, you can claim 20 points

• If your IELTS certificate shows an overall band score of 3 when you apply for residence, you must complete 20 hours of English language tuition at a New Zealand-registered school or tertiary education provider within the 4-year investment period.

Points Test

• Currently, only selecting Expression of Interest with  ≥ 160 points or above.

• Points Test based on your business experience, investment funds, English language ability, and age.

Minimum of Investment Funds and Assets

• You must have at least NZD$10 million to invest in New Zealand for 3 years

• If NZI approves your application in principle, you must show evidence you have kept your funds invested at the end of the second and third years you are in New Zealand.

• If NZI approves your application in principle, you will have 12 months from that date to transfer and invest your funds.

Acceptable Investments

• You must invest your nominated investment funds in acceptable investments in New Zealand for a minimum of 3 years.

Source of Investment Funds

• You must have earned or acquired your funds lawfully.

Recognised Business Experience

• You must have at least 3 years' recognised business experience

Character Requirement

• You must meet NZ Character requirements

Fit and Proper Person

• You must be a fit and proper person

​

Good Health

• If you are applying for a visa, you may need to have a chest x-ray or medical examination as proof of your good health.

• Your chest x-ray and medical examination results must be no more than 3 months old when NZI receives your application.

Spend time in New Zealand

• You must spend 44 days in each of the last two years of your three-year investment period in New Zealand, or 88 days at any time over the three year investment period if you have invested a minimum of NZ$2.5 million in growth investments.

This Visa Allows You

• Live, work, and study in New Zealand.

• Include your partner, and dependent children aged 24 and under, in your residence application.

• You may be able to bring your car, boat and household items to New Zealand, free of customs charges.
