WHY  STUDY  IN  AUSTRALIA

aus Map new.png
aus Map.png

Australia has a multicultural society

For many students, studying abroad will be their first time living in a new country, not to mention living away from the comforts of home.  Australia is a friendly and welcoming country with multicultural society, and therefore the transition for many students will not come as a shock.  Sure, there will be many new things to learn, and many new friends to make, but having access to something which is not dissimilar to what they have at home, like groceries and food, make the transition a little easier.

To illustrate the cultural diversity of the Australian society, almost 30% of Australians are born overseas, and there are more than half a million international students from approximately 200 countries who have been welcomed into Australian life.

Australia is safe

According to the government, Australian cities have some of the lowest crime rates in the world.  Australians enjoy open spaces that are safe and a community spirit that looks out for one another.  There are many options for accommodation too, and one can choose to live in purpose-built student complexes, private rentals, share-houses, homestays or full board accommodation.

Extensive support services available to the student

Australian institutions, generally, offer a wide range of student support services to help students settle into their new lives.  Many local Australian students also have to live away from home because Australia is a large country and its citizens do travel somewhat.  Australian institutions have to help these students.  In more recent times, dedicated international student support centres have also been set up in many cities and towns, each offering practical advice and support on a wide range of issues, including job skills and opportunities to meet with locals and others.

Gain work experience

Many Australian degrees and vocational courses include work experience programs and internships.  The main reason is to ensure that the students can gain hands-on industry experience.  The Australian Government supports such programs by having special visas for eligible applicants to stay and work in Australia.

Australia has a high standard of living

Australian cities are consistently ranked among the most liveable in the world, with a good balance of development and cultural heritage preservation.  Australia is a technologically advanced country with a strong global footprint.  Students in Australia keep up with the rest of the world through advanced national broadband services.

Australians enjoy a good quality of life

The emphasis placed by Australians on good environmental protection means that the quality of the air, the water and the “green lungs” is assured.  Population densities in cities are carefully planned so that over-congestions can be avoided.  However, there is no shortage of neon lights and high-rise apartments for the young urban Australians to keep up with the excitement that comes with youth.

Australian education institutions are ranked highly

Last, but not least, Australian institutions are setting international standards for excellence in education.  The world standing of the Australian institutions are independently made, including Times Higher Education, Shanghai Rankings and QS:

And what they contribute while here goes well beyond their exemplary study capabilities, their research prowess, or their fees, or even their culture which we all learn so much from on our campuses.”

Four Star universities in Australia

The so called four-star universities are also leading universities in Australia. Their teaching level, educational resources, and graduate satisfaction are valued second only to the above mentioned Go8.

The four-star universities are the universities of science, technology and innovation in Australia. Those universities place more emphasis on the practical application of their subjects and research. Some people may view those universities as “slightly inferior” in terms of scientific research, but skills acquired from those universities are highly marketable and may be helpful in your employment, immigration, etc. Those universities also have international recognition and good reputation. Some of them may be valued even higher than the Go8.

Public Secondary Schools & Primary Schools

For Australian secondary schools and primary schools, their syllabus is balanced and it is not difficult to go to school. There is not much difference between the rich and the poor in schools. However, some states like New South Wales may have “selective” secondary schools for students who have demonstrated special aptitudes, and other states like Victoria have location proximity of home requirements.  The curriculum in schools is subject to the approval of the education department of each state and territory.  Schooling, generally, has a reasonable component of sports and excursions and students are taught a wide range of social awareness topics. If students require additional help in any particular subject, private coaching can generally be arranged easily.

If a student under the age of 18 is not accompanied by her or his parents, a Minister of Education in Australia will act as her or his guardian. The Australian Government manages such students and can choose a host family for her or him so that the student could learn English and/or adapt to the Australian lifestyle quicker.

Public schools generally have abundant resources in terms of teachers and can provide competent education.

The tuition fees for Australian private primary and secondary schools are relatively high. Students can generally choose a private school in any district. Most schools are religion-based schools. Apart from normal classes, there are workshop activities. Students may ask for non-participation. Besides STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), private schools have an abundant choice of extracurricular activities. Generally, students are required to choose one sport activity or one musical instrument, to participate in.

Besides students, school activities are also organised for parents participation.

If any of our clients should require our assistance on homestay and/or guardianship, our group can provide the additional service.

Recommendation of Other Education Institutions Other than

Universities and Other Than By Examinations

In addition to the above-mentioned universities, secondary and primary schools, there are many colleges in Australia where parents and children can choose from, especially in relation to specific skills training. To avoid children from losing their competitiveness or being subjected to too much pressure, parents and their children may choose from many other paths to achieve their educational goals. In addition to direct entrance into famous universities by examination after completing secondary schooling, there are other paths to be able to study in famous universities.

Before or after the university entrance examination, the student may decide from among the following (by way of examples only):

  • Foundation courses

  • Foundation courses for a specific profession in a university

  • Foundation courses for the first-year university study

  • College

  • Work for a few years before further study (gap year/s)

Successful Cases:

Case 1:

One of our clients was a student from a secondary school with unsatisfactory academic performance and single digit AEAS score. Australian public schools and many private schools had refused his admission application. Our staff did not give up and eventually found a suitable English school and secondary school for him. Despite the difficult process, we still managed to help the student to obtain the necessary visa and to successfully pursue education in Australia.

Case 2:

A student in Australia needed an extension to a student visa. Unfortunately, the student had a criminal record while studying in Australia. The student was very worried that the criminal record would affect the visa extension application. Our team wrote a submission based on the student’s situation, referencing the relevant legal requirements. We paid careful attention to every detail, regardless of how insignificant it seemed, for the visa application. Finally, the student received the extension. Due to this application, this student may avoid the issue caused by the criminal record when applying for other visas in the future.

Case 3:

Fujian is a province with a very high application refusal rate. We had a student from Fujian wishing to apply for Go8 admission. Upon completion of the required medical examination, the visa was granted. The student and the parents were very excited and appreciative of our advice and assistance.

Case 4:

The youngest student we had was a Grade 3 elementary school student. Although the average time for visa approval is about two months, the visa for this student was obtained in only 4 days.  Attention to detail in visa application is very important, regardless of how insignificant the detail may seem.
