Significant Investor Stream

Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) Visa (subclass 188)

Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) Visa (subclass 888)

 

188C is a provisional visa is for people who make a complying significant investment of at least AUD 5 million in Australian investment and securities and have genuine attention to hold that investment for at least 4 years before applying for an 888C permanent visa.

You must be nominated by an Australian state or territory government agency. You can be either in Australia or overseas when you lodge your application.

Key Requirements

Age
No age limits.
English
Applicants aged 18 or over, must have functional English. You must pay an extra charge, called the second instalment, if you do not have functional English.
Point Test
No Point Test is required.
 
Be Invited
Be invited to apply for 188C and 888C Visas.
Be Nominated
You must be nominated by an Australian State or Territory government
agency or Austrade before being invited to apply for 188C visa.
Investment Funds
Be able to invest at least AUD$5 Million that meets certain requirements by the Department of Home Affairs and have a genuine intention to hold this investment for a least 4 years.
Not Have a History of Involvement in unacceptable activities
You and your partner must have had no history of involvement in business or investment activities that are of a nature that is not generally acceptable in Australia.
Meet Health Requirement
You and any family members who apply for the visa with you must meet health requirement. 
Meet Character Requirement
You and family members aged 16 years and over who apply for the visa with you must meet the Department of Home Affairs' (DHA) character requirement.
